Crazy that you put this quote up because it perfectly addresses something I've been thinking about the last couple days. It seems to me that, while in many ways I want my children to be 'transformed by the renewing of their minds' instead of being 'conformed to this world', there are certain social cues and niceties that are NECESSARY for life. Perhaps they are even more necessary for the christian than the world. I was recently told that it is NOT kindness to force yourself upon someone (such as persistently taking goods to the person down the street who does not want them or have a relationship with you). Rather, true kindness would be perceiving that they need a little space and giving them what they NEED instead of what you WANT to give them or think they need.
ReplyDeleteSat me back and made me think, I'll tell you!! So, would it be correct application to say godly wisdom includes *discernment* as to whether your advances for outreach or friendship or courtship are desired and received with appreciation??
"The wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace." James 3:17-18
Don't know if I'm making sense here--just thinking out loud! Something we can talk about sometime! :) Hmmmm, ya got my wheels turning! Want me to stop 'blogging' in your comment section and go write on my own blog?! LOL
