Many of you know that Cole and Wyatt were blessed to spend a week at Teen Pact Missouri Capital early this spring. They learned so much from the experience and Wyatt left on Sunday to go on to National Convention held in Dayton, Tennessee. I am tickled that he especially enjoyed this so much, suit wearing and all.
Bill Jack, the advisor and lecturer for World View Academy stayed in the boys cabins and taught them at the Capital as he built relationships amongst them. In fact, I thought, "Bill Jack," was another one of Wyatt's teenage friends because of the familiarity with which Wyatt spoke of him.
It wasn't till I picked up a World View Academy VHS from a garage sale and flipped it over, that I realized just who Bill Jack actually is.
Mr. Jack is world famous for his "Simple Tools for Brain Surgery" and work within the World View Academy and Teen Pact realm. This is Wyatt's "friend?"
Bill Jack has four important questions that he taught my boys and all the TeenPact young adults to use to sound more intelligent, even if they are not!
I thought you might be interested in trying them out with me. The boys use them constantly now, and I feel like they are getting the best of me in some of our Tapestry of Grace discussions. I've gotta get with the program and keep up!!
Give these a try with me:
1) What do you mean by that?
2) How do you know that to be true? (truth, majority, or inate?)
3) What difference does that make in your life? (or so what?)
4) What if you are wrong about that and you die?
Ask these questions to buy time to ask another question. Sell them rope so they can hang themselves. (Isn't this fun??!!)
With secular humanists and atheists viewing Christians as a threat to society (their own words here) a Christian needs to be hard-headed and soft-hearted , not soft-headed and hard-hearted.
Some follow up questions might be
1) What would you accept as evidence?
2) Does truth ever change?
and also realizing that there is a time to be quiet and not cast your pearls before swine.
Oh how I love this! Using these questions correctly really does flush out the other person's foundation of thinking if it is not solid.
Make sure though that you have a solid Biblical foundation of your own that you are ready to give a defense for in case they turn the questions back on you!!
