Quickly, emails were sent out and speakers lined up so that America's voice could be heard. What did the Midwest want Obama to hear?
Our family wasn't sure what to expect from a modern-day Tea Party. The spirit of the tea party is non violence and has been since day one. We were pleased to see that Martin Luther King's Pledge of Nonviolence was the standard for the gathering.
The pledge of nonviolence written by Martin Luther King Jr., and signed by his marchers, 1963.
- As you prepare to march meditate on the life and teachings of Jesus
- Remember the nonviolent movement seeks justice and reconciliation - not victory.
- Walk and talk in the manner of love; for God is love.
- Pray daily to be used by God that all men and women might be free.
- Sacrifice personal wishes that all might be free.
- Observe with friend and foes the ordinary rules of courtesy.
- Perform regular service for others and the world.
- Refrain from violence of fist, tongue and heart.
- Strive to be in good spiritual and bodily health.
- Follow the directions of the movement leaders and of the captains on demonstrations.

These standards gave us hope that bringing our children would be an okay move on behalf of Christian parents. We were pleasantly surprised that all our expectations were met. We were stopped a handful of times and told "thank you for bringing your children out tonight. They are this country's future."
I couldn't help but think of the label that has been imposed upon this current homeschooling generation by HSLD.

Engaging Whole -Heartedly in a Battle to Take the Land
The speakers were dynamic and targeted with their message. Many spoke from their heart, not from notes. It was inspiring to see many younger people (30ish
Quotes from Ronald Reagan were often used to make points on liberty. This makes me want to study more on Reagan's freedom thoughts and see how they line up with God's Word. I was just a little girl when Reagan was President but I know my parent's generation speak fondly of him.
I couldn't help but return to Macon the next day with my younger 5 children. The Patriots had arranged for us to assemble right across from the Ethanol Plant where the President was to tour and speak. It was to be another peaceful assembly and the thought of the children getting to see the Presidential motorcade and possibly the President himself, whether we agreed with his policies or not, was just too great of an opportunity.
So we went.
We were completely blocked in from all sides as all roads and interstates were shut down, barricaded by massive amounts of patrolmen and highway workers. We were stuck and not going anywhere.
We waited and waited.....and then coming down the interstate we saw a long, long, precession of lights and vehicles. I lined the children up in front so they could easily see and as the motorcade came closer I turned on my video camera. Just as they turned the corner towards the plant, the President rolled down his window, smiled broadly, and waved! I didn't want to view this from my camera so I took my eyes away to look for myself.......and missed taping the footage. LOL! My family wasn't nearly as humored.
I was so surprised by my own reaction. A lump formed in my throat so tightly that I though I could cry. How could that be? I don't even "like" the President nor his policies. But here was our 'earthly king." Appointed by the people and God to rule wisely for us. His very position of honor almost overwhelmed me.
I turned away fighting emotion and lifted up to God, "why do I feel this way?" I almost felt like a traitor.
God didn't answer me directly but this was my next thought that brought me to complete awe.......if I react this way, to an earthly king, who I don't even like, SERIOUSLY, what WILL it be like to stand before the KING OF ALL KINGS, THE ONE WHO KNOWS MY NAME?
Amazing.....I can only imagine.
I have anxiously awaited this post !! Great pics! I was pleased with the atmosphere of the evening and was challenged again to PRAY for my country and it's leaders. I am so glad to know that ultimately God is in control and our country is just a little player in the grand scheme of things and we know we are on the winning side!!!!
ReplyDeleteIgot tears in my eye reading your last three paragraphs. I know how you felt. I remeber how emotional I felt when I saw President George W Bush. ( and I liked Him ;-) ) I think it is just knowing we are seeing someone the world views as important. Knowing that it is probably a once in a lifetime.(sort of like seeing a movie star!)
And how very exciting, knee bowing, and praise worthy it will be to see the KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS!!!

ReplyDeleteCut and paste this one for sweet little Tori Rose "protesting." You can't miss her pretty long blond hair.
what WILL it be like, indeed! What a thought! Thanks for sharing. Funny that I emailed asking what it was like when you had a post up! giggle
ReplyDeleteFirst, thank you for going! I'm sad we didn't go, but we're all feeling like we have too many irons in the fire lately.
ReplyDeleteSecond, I understand the respect you have for the office, even though we don't agree with the one IN the office. I would be hard pressed to show disrespect to the President, he does represent our country. I do believe the respect for authority is from G-d.
Third, WELCOME to the FBI DATABASE!!! LOL! You will receive your Vast Right Wing Conspirator decoder ring shortly. :)
Signed, FBI Dossier Member since 1998.
That's definitely an experience the kids will remember! I appreciate your candor in the last few paragraphs, as well. Is it any wonder the Bible is filled with "awestruck" encounters with God?
ReplyDeleteI was going to ask you to give me the link to Tori's picture...how fun!
