I love these square foot gardens! They were last year's summer project that Tori Rose and I accomplished from her "Teaching Daughters to be Keepers at Home' curriculum. I learned as much as she did and the excitement of how simple and abundant they are has carried over to this year.
However, last year our chickens were little and stayed indoors, viewing summer from their coop. Not the case this spring. So, our special gardens needed to be chicken proof. What is it about mulch that a chicken loves to roll in it so much anyways:)
Stu, in his visionary style, does nothing small and ordinary if he can help it. We constructed these hoop frames as a family project after church yesterday. It was so much fun. The boys even threw in another teen age friend to help.
It took many hands but together we accomplished in an afternoon what would have taken just Stu a week to do!
Awesome accomplishments! I love it! I have a post all planned about the fence Destry built around my garden this weekend. Stu way outshines him! chuckle And I love the way you decorated it! (typical Misti)
ReplyDeletePoor Nevie still doesn't look like she feels 100%!!
Looks great :)
ReplyDeleteHow did you do the square foot garden? That's about all I've got room for! But the chicken protector looks great.
ReplyDeleteIt looks great! We only halfway tried SFG, and made our boxes too huge. So we are back to a traditional garden with lots of weed barrier and mulch in between rows. LOL. Let me know how the cattle panels work keeping them out.
ReplyDeleteHey, do you need any more laying hens?
