Responsibility: Balancing Work and Worship

How absolutely fitting this song of Zayne's was! He asked me to come and tape his concert. Why was he singing "responsibility?" I haven't the foggiest idea.

But it does make me think of something I've noticed in my life lately. I've confided in a good friend that while I am quickly growing spiritually lately due to time in the Word and in prayer; my house is looking less and less clean and orderly. There just doesn't seem to be time enough in my day to conquer both. This is a problem and shouldn't be so.

Thankfully, Jesus is our example of the most balanced individual the world has ever known. He showed us how to balance work and worship, duty and devotion. He illustrated the teeter totter rhythm of a balanced life. I am thankful that I have a glimpse into the choices he made daily while on Earth and can imitate them for myself.

So, what is the secret? What keeps this balance? Once again, we find it to be in following the two greatest commandments: loving God with all we have and loving our neighbor as ourselves (serving them) and then saying 'no' to the busyness that attempts to choke out these greater two.

  1. TOO CUTE! What a little sweetie he is--I just love children singing and making up songs!

And what a good message--we have our responsibilities to uphold. We must combine Mary and Martha, hmmmmm?

And saying 'no' to the busyness--yes! Sometimes, do you ever wonder. . .is it our attitude that can make something busyness, and not the activity itself?? Just something I've been pondering. . .We can serve from a sense of dutifulness, of responsibility, and as a martyr, OR we can serve out of love for God and His people. Sometimes it looks the same on the outside, but our attitude makes it what it is. KWIM?
